Mahnomen Parks

Lake ItascaMahnomen is surrounded by natural resources and excellent recreational opportunities.  Swimming, fishing, hunting, bowling and snowmobiling are all available.

Mahnomen City Park is located at the southern end of town.  The park is situated along the banks of the Wild Rice River, which flows eastward on its winding way across Mahnomen County.  The park boasts cheerful views of the river, along with picnic areas and playground equipment.  Mahnomen's "Mini-Park" is more centrally located and has plenty of playground equipment too.

Within the western half of the county lies portions of the White Earth State Forest. And just south of the county line lies the beautiful Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, which offers great hiking and cross-country skiing.

Some of Minnesota's most beautiful parks lie just a short drive from Mahnomen. They include:

Itasca State Park 44 miles east of Mahnomen
Buffalo River State Park 45 miles southwest of Mahnomen
Lake Bemidji State Park 50 miles east of Mahnomen
Maplewood State Park 51 miles south of Mahnomen

Golf in Mahnomen is available at the Mahnomen Country Club.  Year-round swimming in the MHS Pool is available for students and the public.
